 ALUMNI TALK SHOW

UUM ONLINE: Participation of alumni volunteers to give support and contribution to the university is crucial to sustainand continue the development of a university. In line with this, Alumni Talk was held in conjunction with the SMMTC-SCIMPA Week on 17 May 2017 at Seminar Hall B, SQS Building UUM.

 

The homecoming return of alumni to the university are living proof that they can succeed after experiencing the same environment and system as other students.Their sharing of experienceas former students becomes a guide and inspiration to current students in the university.

 

Among the alumni present at the program were Wan Mohd Rafiq bin Wan Shamsul Kamal (Telemovie Karya-12 WauKasih), Syamsul Amri bin Abdul Manap (Musician at Co-Curriculum Centre UUM), FahiyahbintiHamdi (Didi& Friends) and Afif bin Ahmad Mustaffa (MDEC e-Rezeki). Each alumnus/alumna represented each area of specialization which are Management in Film Production, Management in Music Production, Management in Animation Production and Management in Interactive Media Production. Zahid AF (student of BCIM UUMKL) was present as moderator of the talk show.

 STAFF-STUDENT TELEMATCH

TELEMATCH 

UUM ONLINE:A Staff-Student Telematch was held on 17 May 2017 in conjunction with SMMTC- SCIMPA Week 2017. The Creative Innovative Association (CIA) and School of Creative Industry Management and Performing Arts (SCIMPA) were assigned to organize the event.

 

Besides CIA, other clubs from the School of Multimedia Technology and Communication (SMMTC) and SCIMPA such as PERKOM, PERMEDIA, MULTIMEDIA, & IPRMSA also participated in the telematch. Among the games played were the Slow Bike Race, Giant Clog Race, Gunny Sack Race, Chocolate Picking, Paper Badminton, Samyang Challenge with the pinnacle event being the tug of war challenge. The games played at the telematch were successful at bridging student/lecturer relationship.

 

The telematch which was held within the compound of the SMMTC building took place at 2.30 in the afternoon and ended at 6 in the evening. Dean of SCIMPA, Dr Ahmad Hisham Zainal Abidin said, "Alhamdulillah this telematch has successfully achieved its objective to bridge the relationship between students and faculty members from a broad range of disciplines and has made us keep fit and healthy.”

UUM CELEBRATES THE GRADUATION OF THE FIRST BATCH OF THE BACHELOR OF CREATIVE INDUSTRY MANAGEMENT GRADUATES

UUM ONLINE: The 29th Convocation Ceremony of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) recorded another history when one of its inaugural programme -the Bachelor of Creative Industries Management with Honours (BCIM) saw the graduation of its first batch of 25 graduates.

 

The programme, which focuses on formal learning for managers who are directly involved in the creative industry was introduced in 2013 and the first batch of its graduates received their scrolls in the First Session of the 29th Convocation Ceremony.

 

One of the graduates, Ms. Nur Atiqah Sabihim, 25, said she was excited to be in the first batch of BCIM graduates and she hoped to be a role model to other students who are interested to pursue their studies in the field of creative industry.

 

"This programme aims to produce graduates of creative arts for the creative industry. The job prospects in this field are also very expansive as it is not only limited to the local but also for the international markets. The important thing is to cultivate the interests and enthusiasm in yourself and do not be afraid to try new ideas," said Nur Atiqah who is also the recipient of the Vice-Chancellor’s Gold Medal.

 

Nur Atiqah who hailed from Johor is currently working as an animator at Inspidea Sdn. Bhd. - a 2D animation studio and a Multimedia Super Corridor status company in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

 

Another graduate, Izzul Afi Mohd Noah, 25, expressed his delight for the opportunity to complete his studies in the BCIM programme.

 

He is currently working as a Production Manager at Nuansa Sdn. Bhd., a production company owned by a renowned film director, Mr. Osman Ali.

 

The BCIM programme is offered by the School of Creative Industry Management and Performing Arts (SCIMPA).
